Opening a bank account is a must before you begin your job. It is a relatively simple process if you have the right documents and our medical HR team is here to help you with it. To open a UK bank account, you’ll need two documents: one to prove your identity and one to prove your address. This applies both in-branch and online.
Proving your identity is simple – you would just need to present your passport, driving licence or identity card (if you’re an EU national). The tricky part is providing address proof as most International doctors do not have a UK address at the time of opening a bank account when they first land in the UK. Most banks accept a letter issued by your employer confirming your identity and your address. Our Medical HR team can provide you with this letter to help open your bank account.
